about

Rohan Riaou is a self-taught muralist and visual artist based in India. From an early age, he was drawn to drawing and painting, spending years experimenting with forms, colours, and ideas outside any formal artistic training. His learning has been entirely intuitive—shaped by observation, practice, and lived experience.

Over time, his artistic journey evolved from sketchbooks and small works to large-scale murals in public spaces. This shift marked the beginning of his deeper engagement with art as a tool for communication and awareness. Today, his work primarily focuses on animals and nature, with wildlife forming the central theme of his artistic practice.

Through his murals and paintings, Rohan seeks to highlight the importance of animals as living beings who share equal space on this planet. In response to issues such as illegal poaching, habitat loss, and human indifference toward wildlife, his art aims to create emotional connection rather than confrontation. By portraying animals as majestic, vulnerable, and deeply alive, he invites viewers to pause, reflect, and reconnect with the natural world.

Rohan strongly believes that public art has the power to influence perception and spark empathy. His murals are created to exist within everyday spaces, allowing people from all walks of life to engage with themes of coexistence, compassion, and responsibility toward nature.

He has collaborated with various organisations and initiatives, including Chhatbir Zoo,  and Social Substance, contributing to projects aligned with wildlife awareness, conservation, and community engagement. These collaborations have further strengthened his commitment to using art as a medium for social and environmental impact.

Through both murals and studio work, Rohan Riaou continues to explore how art can serve as a voice for animals—celebrating their beauty while advocating for their right to exist in a more conscious and compassionate world.
